Thrivent Financial for Lutherans  the GivingPlus program is nearing its end as 2009 comes to a close.  If you are a Thrivent member and have given matching gifts in the past, we encourage you to do so now before the end of the year.  If you’re a member and haven’t given in the past, now is the time to participate while you can.  Thrivent will contribute 50 cents for every dollar that a member donates, up to a maximum match of $300.  This means every gift of $600 or more to St. Mark Lutheran School will add another $300 from Thrivent.  Forms for matching gifts can be found in our church and school lobbies.  We sincerely thank you for your generosity and help in making a genuine difference in the lives of our students.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our offices.

Grow & Go!  This week’s Bible verse under our school year theme is from Psalm 71:3….. Be my rock of refuge, to which I can go; give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress.

Sports Update:   The Lady Eagles travel to Grand Ledge for the annual Our Savior Lutheran, Lansing Girls’ A&B Team Tournament, this weekend, 11/20 – 11/22.  Come on out and support your team!  Go Eagles!!!  The Lady Eagles season concludes with this tournament, and they’ve had a great season (only 1 loss to date).  Our boys’ teams have begun practice this week.  We’re pleased to have Coach Glaser and Coach Vinson direct our teams this year, and we pray God’s blessings on a successful and fun season.  The season’s contests begin after Thanksgiving.  Go Eagles!!!

Attention All Cheerleaders!!!  We are looking to start a cheerleading squad for the upcoming boys’ basketball season.  We need as many girls and boys as possible to keep fans and the crowd upbeat during the games.  All 3rd – 8th graders interested should call the school office or Julie Beukema @ 551-3072 (home) or @ 634-5477 (cell).  Practices will be scheduled when we know there is enough interest to form a squad.  Don’t delay- let us know right away.  Go Eagles!!!

THANK YOU!!!  to all those who stopped by Olga’s Kitchen last weekend in support of our school ministry.  We appreciate your support and the direction of Karen Lancaster in this event.          Samaritan’s Purse: What a great response we’ve received thus far.  Students brought in a good number of shoe boxes this morning for chapel.  If you forgot and still have one at home- please get it in tomorrow.  Thanks!!!  Our giving really warms the heart!!!  May the Lord repay you for your kindness.

Yuk!  Yuk!   Noah: Hey, Eric.  Did you know that the national sport in Spain is bull fighting?  And that in England its cricket?”     Eric:  “I’d rather play in England.”     Noah:  “Why do you say that?”

Eric:  “It seems to me that it would be easier to fight crickets than bulls.”

Look for us again next week…..                  Until then, May the Lord be with you and bless you.                                                                           He is     and    He will.

Peace & Joy!
